August 5th. Pearland Chinese Association and AYLUS (Alliance of Youth Leadership US) – Pearland jointly held the second Pearland High School Students Symposium. More than 70 high school students and their parents attended the seminar.
The eight guests invited to the seminar were all fresh graduates from high schools in Pearland. They are Jason Jiang, Donna Liu, and Divya Ramamurthy of the University of Pennsylvania, Jenny Yu of MIT, Julie Liu of New York University, Adith Ram of Rice University, Kevin Chen of the University of Texas at Austin, and Srikar Anantha of the University of Washington in St. Louis. The symposium was moderated by high school students Vincent Yang and Janie Chen.
The guests introduced their four years of high school life and the up-and-downs during college application. The guests shared experience on the choice of extra-curricular activities as well as how they managed to find time study. They elaborated on the application process, reminded the audience to plan ahead of time, build network, and select references strategically.
