The spring of Texas is fleeting. Many folks take the opportunity to decorate their house with flowers and plants. Rose, the queen of the flowers and symbol of love, has many admirers. However, Rose is not an easy plant as it is susceptible to heat and insect disease and needs timely trimming.
Rose, Rose, I love you.
Not so easy loving you.
Fully aware of this, Pearland Chinese association invited “Rose Master” Sophie to give a talk.
Sophie has a big rose garden, with more than 30 different strains of roses. She is a member of American Rose Society and Houston Rose Society, attends meetings every year. She is also one of the founders of the Pearland, TexasChinese Association and the current treasurer.
The lecture was at Sunrise Lake Club House. Many folks showed up way before the start.
Sophie’s introduction is clear, concise and comprehensive. Most inspirational is that her Rose career started just two years back. “Rose Master” is no longer a day dream 😊
The lecture begins with how to pick the rose plant.
Listen intently
Warm exchanges
Live demonstration with rose from Houston Garden Center of pruning techniques
Shear, Shear, all about Shear
So you can look at it closely 😊
Even closer 😉
Sophie also brought her own rose magic bag and detailed how each item is used. These are mass market items and knowing how to properly use them boost everyone’s confidence.
